User Experience
/ˈjuːzər ɪkˈspɪəriəns/
User Experience (UX) is the overall experience a person has while interacting with a product, service, or system. It covers everything from how easy it is to find what you need, to how the interface looks and feels, to how it makes you feel while using it.
Good UX is shaped by usability, accessibility, information architecture, visual design, and content, all working together toward a person's goals. It's measured not just by whether a task can be completed, but by how efficient, intuitive, and enjoyable that process is.
Why does User Experience matter?
A great user experience keeps people coming back, reduces support costs, and builds trust in your brand. A confusing or frustrating experience, on the other hand, drives users away, no matter how good the underlying features are.
Designers improve UX through research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing, iterating based on real feedback. For example, simplifying a checkout flow from five steps to two can noticeably increase completed purchases and customer satisfaction.
