White Space
/waɪt speɪs/
White space, also called negative space, is the empty area between and around design elements, such as text, images, and buttons. It's not just "blank" space, it's an active design tool that gives your content room to breathe.
White space can be any color, not just white. What matters is that it's left unfilled, letting the eye rest and helping the surrounding elements stand out.
Why does White Space matter?
Good use of white space improves readability, guides the user's eye toward important elements, and gives your interface a clean, uncluttered feel. Too little of it makes a layout feel cramped and overwhelming, while enough of it creates visual hierarchy and breathing room.
You'll see it used deliberately around headlines, between paragraphs, and surrounding calls to action to make them stand out. It's a simple but powerful way to make a design feel more premium and easier to use.
